What is Podcasting

Podcasting is making audio content available to download automatically so that you can listen to it when you want to. Using a "podcatcher" you can subscribe to a particular podcast and recieve all the latest additions automatically. If you have an iPod or other media device (eg, mp3 player) you can then transfer the latest "podcast episodes" and listen to them when you're mobile or from any computer.

How Can I receive Life FM's Podcast?

There are several programs you can download to listen to podcasts. Two of the most popular are iTunes and iPodder.

To subscribe to our Life FM Podcast using iTunes

  1. Download iTunes - click here to download
  2. Open the program (after downloading & installing).
  3. Click on Podcasts in the left panel. Click on the Advanced Menu and select "Subscribe to Podcast" as shown below


  4. Enter the following text into the box    www.lifefm.com.au/lifecast.rss


  5. The most recent Podcast Episode will download automatically. You can view all previous podcast episodes and download (GET) them as required by clicking on the small triangle as shown below


  6. You can change how often iTunes looks for new episodes of the Life FM Podcast by clicking on the Settings button.

To subscribe to our Life FM Podcast using iPodder

  1. Download iPodder - click here to download
  2. Open the program (after downloading & installing).
  3. Click on the Subscriptions Tab and then click on the "Add New Feed" button as shown below


  4. Enter the following text into the box    www.lifefm.com.au/lifecast.rss   and click Save


  5. Tick the boxes next to the episodes you wish to download and then click the "Check for New Podcasts" button as indicated below


  6. When you're ready to listen, click on the Downloads tab and then click on the green arrow next to the file you would like to listen to.

Will You Broadcast Music Programs?

No, not at this time.

There are strict reguations in Australia that prevent individuals or organisations from downloading or placing copyright protected content on the internet.

Podcasting involves placing mp3 or wav files online and providing an interface through which individuals can download those files. If Life FM were to provide music content through podcasting, we would be breaching these regulations.

While Life FM holds licences to broadcast music on air there are currently no licences available that cover podcasting music.

Technically it is possible to broadcast music via podcasting but it would require prior approval from every single copyright owner, which obviously ,is simply not feasible.

If regulations in relation to the use of music in podcasting change we will revise our current policy not to include music content in our podcasts.
